Aquaponics (Aquaculture+Hydroponics) is the food production system of the future.
Scaleable from a single backyard up to large community systems, you can become self sufficient in quality pesticide-free food, a complete diet of fish, salads and vegetables. Aquaponics is extremely productive and uses a fraction of the water used by traditional agriculture. It is a perfect solution for urban living with restricted space, and for regions where water is at a premium.
We all know that times are getting tough, with increasing layoffs, soaring fuel prices and food security becoming major issues.
This book details my personal experiences in building a backyard Aquaponics system as cheaply as possible.
It has been up and running for 5 years, making me self sufficient in many green vegetables such as salads, herbs, beans and cucumbers etc, and producing over 200kg (440 lbs) of tasty fish a year with a 10,000 litre (2,600 gal) tank.
It has 50+ diagrams and photographs, detailing the system construction and my successes (and failures) solving issues.
After reading this book you should have all the knowledge and insights needed to design a system using whatever materials are suitable for your climate and circumstances. Save yourself some heartache!
If you are concerned about the future, the environment, Climate change, self-sufficiency or clean food, then this book for you.

DIY Aquaponics edition by Jamie Brown Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
This book starts off with a solid BANG ! This writer and I are only two years apart in age and we both have common backgrounds, because we both have military experience and we know what is happening globally and it is not good. The writer has an excellent grasp of world economics and the cost of doing business. He is fully aware of the damage farmers have done to the land worldwide, using Petro-Chemicals to fertilize our crops. It has left our soils sterile and full of salts and many people now have to learn how to use different technological methods to grow their own food supplies in order to survive. Hydroponics is also becoming too expensive and some of the ingredients required for this technology are becoming scarce. Aquaponics is the food source of the future.
The Australians have a solid background in Aquaponics and are making faster headway than many other countries. They have their own regular magazine publication on Aquaponics and share readily the information they have gathered over the years. I have not downloaded this book but I can tell from the opening pages that this book is a quality book and you should expect it to be fairly well written but I do not think it is worth $ 9.00 because it is an EBook. Like all EBooks, it has no physical substance and unless this is a " standard price " for EBooks, I think it should be reduced in price. This does not mean I think it's a cheap book but it has no substance and the only way you can use it is to have one of the electronic readers or a computer with the reader software, which makes it less flexible, usage wise.
I like to have a book I can read and take with me if I need it. I don't like to take my laptop to an environment where there is a chance of it becoming damaged. The same goes for the electronic readers, because they are also vulnerable to damage and the glare you get off the screens in daylight or the inability to read the screen due to the brightness of sunlight. I just prefer real books.
Either way, I do not think you will be disappointed with this EBook because the Australians really have Aquaponics nailed down and everyone is hopping on this freight-train down-under.
Great addition to my library. And what a break to find it cheaper than any bookstore that I have searched.
Not very detailed hard to call it a true DYI book. Most or all of the stuff in this book can easily be found on the internet for free and in most cases with greater detail.
very informative
