This delightful book is the product of a therapeutic intergenerational arts program between residents of a continuing care retirement community in Hanover, New Hampshire and the children that attend an on-site childcare program there. Part of the reason that I wanted my own toddler daughter to attend "school" at the retirement community was for the intergenerational program and the opportunities to interact with older adults.In her book, Jennie Lou Harriman explores the value of these types of relationships between the very young and the more mature. The bright collage illustrations are beautifully done, and you can see the attention to detail and texture. Her simple, sweet messages are heartfelt and insightful. I especially appreciate the quotes at the end of the book from the seniors who worked with the children in making art together.
